AFTER the frustration of the wet bank holiday weekend, there was plenty of action for followers of the Hunters York and District Senior League Division One as the sides in second and third went head to head and, after a gap of almost three months, Goole Town returned to the promotion places.

Matt Wilkie smashed 50 from just 22 balls as Sessay all but ended Bridlington’s promotion hopes.

It took the champions just 8.4 overs to reach their victory target after the visitors had been bowled out for 98, Liam Carver taking 3-27.

Pickering climbed above Driffield Town into second place, courtesy of a seven-wicket win as results elsewhere confirmed both sides will finish the season in the top four.

Half-centuries from Grant Halder (50) and Damon Jenkinson (68) helped the hosts reach 204 as Tim Whincup picked up 4-53.

The hosts’ bowlers were unable to apply sufficient pressure to trouble the visitors’ line up though as Colin Frank (72) and Chris Nichols (46) both prospered before David Greenlay (50no) took his side over the line.

Goole Town appear to be hitting top form just at the right time as they completed a fifth victory in as many weeks.

Fellow promotion hopefuls Bolton Percy were the latest team to be brushed aside as the visitors won by nine wickets.

Danny White scored 50 but his was the only innings of note in the hosts’ 108, Ben Lamb taking 3-32.

Oscar Sugden (53) and Anthony Gibbins (30) then wasted little time in securing the points which lifted their side above their opponents into fourth place.

Malton & Old Malton were equally convincing winners, beating Whitkirk by the same margin, Thomas Brumby taking 3-22 as the home side were bowled out for just 70. Shaun Harland (34) was the only casualty as the visitor’s cruised to an easy victory.

Osbaldwick are condemned to finish the season in bottom place after they lost at Folkton & Flixton.

Matthew Hattee made 44 out of the visitors’ 140, which included three wickets for Jamie Nesfield (3-25). In reply, Nick Zakrzewski made 50 and Harry Walmsley an unbeaten 29 as, despite the efforts of Ben Richardson (4-37), the home side won by five wickets.
