SCARBOROUGH replaced Woodhouse Grange at the top of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division after beating Fenner by 137 runs.

The reigning champions, who could only manage a losing draw against the division's form side Dunnington, dropped three places.

James Pick (73) top scored for Scarborough and Mark Tennant (70no) scored his fourth consecutive half century as the home side were able to declare on 211-5.

But the extra time gained by the decision was not required as Fenner were dismissed for 77 inside 29 overs.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge climbed up to second place as they won for the first time in four matches when beating Easingwold by nine wickets.

Opener Stephen Piercy (54) and Kyle Waite’s (30) partnership of 65 for the third wicket was the highlight for the home side but their effort was squandered as they were eventually bowled out for 166, Jason Grose finishing with 4-38.

Mark Fisher contributed three wickets with the ball but it was his unbeaten 111 with the bat that sealed victory for the visitors - the result never in doubt after he and Louis Foxton (34) shared an opening stand of 142.

Andy Brewster’s four wickets cost just eight runs as Acomb moved up to third with a comfortable victory at home to York II, whose total of 102 could have been considerably worse had it not been for Jack Neil (40).

Skipper Andy Tute led his team's reply with 34 as they got home for the loss of three wickets.

The game of the day saw Dunnington continue the excellent form which has seen them climb from bottom of the table to sixth. They had won five in a row going into the match at Woodhouse Grange.

Dunnington had Collis King (73) and Jake Murphy (53) to thank as they recovered form 67-3, with a stand of 112, before the home side fought back with five wickets in the space of 28 runs as the innings closed on 224-8.

Grange looked to be staring down the barrel of a first defeat at 53-5 as Josh Barrett (4-47) and Murphy (2-31) made full use of the new ball. But a half century from Mike Burdett and late resistance from Josh Jackson (22no) kept their unbeaten record intact.

Their total of 166-8, though, meant they dropped out of the top two for the first time this season.

Clifton Alliance, with three wins in their last four matches, remain in the running for a place in the top six after they beat Stamford Bridge by eight wickets.

David Friend took 5-34 and Liam Green 3-42 as Stamford Bridge were bowled out for 99. Joe Ashdown then top scored with 38 as Alliance raced to victory in just 16 overs.

Guy Martinson top scored with 84 and Matthew Bunn followed last week’s 71 with 55 as Hull Zingari declared on 231-4 against Heworth. The visitors secured a share of the points thanks to Tom Neal (79) and Dan Walton (51) as they finished on 211-7.

The two sides residing at the foot of the table met at Studley Royal and bottom side Beverley Town moved to within four points of their hosts with victory by 71 runs.

Olly Grantham made 41 of the away side’s 210-4 but it was the wickets of Matthew Mudd (4-38), who took four in a losing cause at Dunnington last week, that won the match as Studley Royal were bowled out for 139 despite a second successive half century from Ben Coad (61).
