WOODHOUSE GRANGE saw their lead at the top of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division cut to five points after Scarborough won at Heworth.

The league leaders' game at Fenner was abandoned without a ball being bowled - the only match in the top two divisions to fall victim to the weather - and it could now hardly be tighter below the top two with three sides covered by a single point.

Jack Holt took 5-39 as Heworth were bowled out for 176 at North Marine Road, Neil Martin top scoring for the visitors with 62. Scarborough’s Darren Harland became the third batsmen to pass 500 runs this season on his way to 71, while Mark Tennant scored 57, to add to last week’s 92, as the home side strolled to victory by seven wickets.

Dom Rhodes (115no) scored his second century of the season, and 69 from Yorkshire’s Will Rhodes helped Stamford Bridge reach Easingwold’s total of 213-9 with three wickets to spare despite Matthew Turnbull’s 6-43 for the visitors.

Earlier in the day, Turnbull scored 41 and Stephen Piercy 40, but Kunwar Bansil (4-48) kept the visitors to a manageable target.

Stamford Bridge’s victory allowed them to move level on points with Sheriff Hutton Bridge, who had to settle for a winning draw at home to Hull Zingari.

Adam Fisher joined Clifton Alliance’s Joe Ashdown in passing 500 runs, finishing on 79, and Russell Robinson (74) almost matched his skipper’s score as the hosts closed on 243-8.

Matthew Wilkinson took 5-75 for the visitors.

Robinson was again in the action taking 3-43 whilst Jordan Grose finished with 3-55, but Matthew Bunn (71) helped frustrate the home side as Zingari finished on 201-7 to take a share of the points.

Acomb, having only secured promotion to the top flight on the final day of last season, continued their impressive campaign when beating Studley Royal by 75 runs. It was their seventh victory, the most by any side in the division, and saw them move to within a point of the two sides above them.

Andy Brewster became the competition’s leading wicket-taker with 6-24 as the visitors, still searching for a first win, were bowled out for 117 despite 51 from Yorkshire’s Ben Coad. Joe Dale earlier top scored with 36 in the host's total of 192-8.

Dunnington, with five straight wins, were the form side going into the latest round of matches and a solid team performance ensured that run continued as victory over bottom side Beverley Town lifted them into the top six.

Jake Murphy (3-40) was again among the wickets but Adam Iyer (4-43) finished with the best figures as, despite a half-century from Jon Vodden, the visitors could manage only 161.

Matthew Mudd then took four of the six wickets to fall in the home side's reply but Tom Loten (40no) and Dan Barrett (39no) saw them home.

Clifton Alliance ended a run of only one win in their last seven matches by beating neighbours York II by five wickets. In a clash dominated by bowlers, David Friend (5-37) and Liam Green (4-22), having made the short trip across Clifton Park, wasted little time in skittling the hosts.
