AN astonishing performance with the ball from Mark Wilkie helped Sessay go top in the Hunters York & District Senior League division one as leaders Goole Town were rained off.

His figures of five wickets for just one run from 2.5 overs helped bowl out Whitkirk for a mere 37, Liam Carver also contributing to the visitor’s capitulation with 3-12.

Only Simon Webb (13) made double figures as six batsmen made ducks. That came in reply to the home side’s 122-5 in which Nick Thorne 46 top-scored and Wilkie contributed 27.

Sessay’s winning margin of 85 runs was repeated by Folkton & Flixton at Bolton Percy.

The visitors scored 182-9 thanks largely to Matthew Nesfield (33) and Richard Malthouse (31) against the wiles of Peter Houseman (4-40) and Danny White (3-46).

The home side were bowled out for 97 thanks in part to Lee Elvidge, who finished with 4-35.

Alec Drury (4-33) and Nicky Johnson (4-35) were both to the fore as Driffield Town II dismissed promotion rivals Sewerby for 105 before Ben Dobson followed last week’s century with an unbeaten 72 as the visitors eased to victory for the loss of only four wickets.

Bridlington’s Richard Lount made a half-century but his effort was in vain as Pickering Town won by five wickets.

Nick Tennant made 38 in the home side’s 34, Kieran Bowes picking up five wickets and Ryan Boyes three.

Tom Sigsworth (35) and Colin Frank (28) spearheaded the successful chase.
