SHERIFF Hutton Bridge II secured a second successive promotion after thrashing Stillington by eight wickets in division three north.

Barry Milburn hit 31 for Stillington but lacked support as his side were whipped out for only 69 by Mike Smith (4-28), Alex Ibbotson (3-12) and Dan Clipston (3-16). Smith followed with 33 not out.

Sessay’s promotion hopes were washed away when the weather took control after they had reached 155-2 at Woodhouse Grange. John Flintoff had made 69 and Mark Jackson 65.

Easingwold lost top spot when their game against Malton & Old Malton was one of many weather casualties.

They had posted 241-4, with Andrew Metcalfe making 100 not out. Charles Ramsey hit 64 and Ryan Waite 32. Malton were unable to reply.

In division three south, Glen Crouch claimed 6-28 for Civil Service against Scarborough, who were 120-9 when the game was abandoned.

Heworth secured promotion when they took 12 points from their abandoned game against Fenner. The York side totalled 206-8 with Paul Neal making 39 and Tom Neal 67.

Leaders Rowntrees & Huntington were denied the chance to all-but clinch the title when their game at Yapham was wiped out.

They now have a winner-takes-all game against Heworth on the final day of the season.

In division four west, Woodhouse Grange tumbled to 60 all out as Rowntrees & Huntington’s Peter Edmondson took 5-7. Paul Horner then made 36 not out as Rowntrees won by ten wickets.

Copmanthorpe received the division four central trophy before their aborted game against Sheriff Hutton.
