Acomb slipped nearer the division three relegation zone when they finished second best in a home draw with Ripon.

Elliott Oates recorded his first York League century, being unbeaten with 112 when Ripon’s innings closed on 262-4.

Acomb’s Neil Grant hit 41 and Paul Hemingway 26, but tight control was maintained by Matt Morton with 3-23 and Hazard, who took 4-30, as Acomb proceded to 145-8.

Duncombe Park were presented with the champions trophy by league president Bernard Stevens but then found themselves involved in a tight struggle with Hovingham before eventually emerging nine-run winners.

For Park, Paul Wilkie made 50 and Phil Marwood 32, while Brian Leckenby made 26 to take his seasonal total to 1,099.

Their efforts enable the Helmsley side to post a total of 171 despite good bowling from Steve Mosey (4-25) and Tom Lund (3-38).

When Hovingham took their turn at the crease Steve Prest made 39, Will Lund 35 and John Mosey 25 but Wilkie grabbed a decisive 4-14 which, with Peter Kent’s 3-43, had Hovingham all out for 162.
