Wayne all-round whirl Malton & Old Malton’s Wayne Dawson enjoyed success either side of the tea interval when he followed his 4-33 with 74 as his side clinched promotion from division two.

Supporting Dawson with the ball was Chris Hudson who took 3-45 as Londesborough Park made 191-9 with contributions from Charles Rook (43) and Steve Dawson (48).

Rook then captured 3-48 but Dawson found useful allies in Martin Woodliffe with 38 and Stephen Linsley who made 36 as Malton moved to 193-4.

Entertaining York III, Woodhouse Grange II posted a total of 230-4 which owed much to a stand of 122 for the third wicket between Matt Shepherd (68) and Luke Cattle (61). York replied with 176-6, Sharaz Kasi’s unbeaten 59 leading the way.

When Clifton Alliance entertained Bolton Percy both sides had an opening batsman who anchored the innings.

For Alliance, John Myers made 62 against an attack led by Andrew Brewster, who took 4-16 and Peter Houseman 3-34 to dismiss the hosts for 157. Dave Friend then posed some problems in taking 4-49 but Bolton opener Jacob Green carried his bat for an unbeaten 63, while Tom Atkinson made 36 to see Bolton to a winning total of 158-8.
