CIVIL Service slipped to fifth in division four after a four-wicket defeat at Fenner.

Will Phelps deserved better reward after making 73 for Service, but his colleagues fared badly against Mark Johnson (3-31) and Dylan Barkworth (3-27) in a total of 132.

Sam Dodds then took 3-33 but Fenner won at 133-6.

Goole Town slipped another five points behind tenth-placed Pickering when they were beaten at home by Malton & Old Malton.

Jake Mahoney’s 69 was the top knock in Goole’s 186-6 as Linsley claimed 3-52. Oliver Gilbank’s 44 then took Malton to a winning 189-8.

Both sides earned valuable points in their attempts to stave off relegation when Huby had the better of a draw with Pickering.

A 22-point haul left Huby needing only five points from their final two games to ensure safety, while Pickering’s 13 points opened the gap between them and 11th-placed Goole to 13 points.

In a total of 228-9 set by Huby, Tom Piercy made 78, Dan Grainger 49 and Sean Dixon 44 as Kieron Boyes took 3-49 and Adrian Boyes 3-57.

Pickering’s 179-4 included runs from Les Welburn (73), Ryan Taylor (39) and Tim Whincup (31).

Easingwold lost by ten wickets at Hull Zingari.

Rob Harrison made 51 for the visitors and Tom Langstaff got 21 but they were undone for 111 by Adam Brown, whose 7-29 was the day’s best bowling return.

Nick Johnson made 87no and Tom Shaw 74 as Rowntrees & Huntington made 230-3 at home to bottom side Drax. Richard Shaw hit 40.

Drax avoided a 13th defeat when they closed on 137-8.

Patrington maintained their fourpoint lead at the top when they won by six wickets after shooting New Earswick out for 87.
