WOODHOUSE Grange stretched their lead when they took the full 30 points from visitors Clifton Alliance in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division.

The reigning champions are now 82 points clear at the top after their main rivals were all involved in drawn games.

Scott Hopkinson, with 26, was the only Alliance batsman to show as they were restricted to 118-9 by Nick Hadfield (3-22) and Dave Suddaby (3-7).

Grange’s batsmen struggled but, with Chris Suddaby making 34 and Chris Bilton 23, they won by four wickets.

Yorkshire colt Matthew Fisher made a rare outing for Sheriff Hutton Bridge in a top-four clash at Studley Royal, making 55.

His brothers Mark, with 43, and Adam, with 44, plus Dave Bradshaw (29), took Bridge to 233-8.

Gary Blackburn claimed 4-53 for the hosts, who moved to 130-3 through Dan Craven (41) and Matt Pickles (25). They closed on 163-8 as Bridge drew for the eighth time.

An unbeaten 134 by Dominic Rhodes and 7-25 by Dave Chaplin – the best bowling figures of the top flight season – took Stamford Bridge to a convincing draw against York.

Martin Veysey’s 33 and Chaplin’s 40 helped Stamford to 245-6. York’s Jake Murphy took 3-63 and Nick Kay 3-86.

Kay followed with 44, while Toby Pratt made 36 and Will Stephen 40 but Chaplin’s 15-over stint held York to 153-8.

Sewerby’s recent successful streak was halted in a dramatic finale when Dunnington ran a bye to the wicketkeeper off the final delivery to win by three wickets.

Chris Chapman’s unbeaten 71, plus handy runs from Russ Robinson (35) and Mike Artley (33) saw Sewerby to 218-9. Josh Barrett took 3-63.

When Dunnington replied, Jack Bolam made 60, Collis King 46 and Harwood Williams 42.

Ben Dobson kept the hosts in the hunt with 4-68, but Adam Sutcliffe was involved in the successful last-gasp scramble as he reached 26 not out.

Batting first at Beverley, Selby made 215 but missed out on a higher score as three of their batsmen were run out.

Top scorer was Lee Wild with 64, while Tom Collins hit 39 and Darren Guy 42.

Beverley then flew to 100 in 13 overs through Faisal Abid (57) and Jon Fisher (55).

After they were dismissed, the run rate dropped as Wild took 3-46, but Ian Gilyon (22no) and Matt Mudd (18no) clinched a five-wicket victory with eight overs to spare.

Only ten wickets fell at Easingwold, where the home side had the better of a draw with Acomb.

Martin Piercy made two centuries last weekend – one against Acomb in the Premier Cup – but was dismissed for 39, much to the relief of the Acomb bowlers.

Stephen Piercy made 41, Kyle Waite hit 57 and Mark Haines made 59 not out as Easingwold reached 244-4.

Acomb’s competitive reply was fronted by Scott Nicholls, who fell for 96, while Andy Tute got 39 and Martin Pepper 39 not out.

They drew at 219-6, as Rich Lindsay took 3-52.

BOLTON Percy maintained their division two promotion drive when they trounced hosts Welton & Brough by ten wickets in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

Dan McCune made 28 for the home side as they were bowled out for 112 by Jacob Green (4-32) and Pollock 3-13.

Green then made an unbeaten 60 as he and Tom Atkinson (49no) cruised to victory.

Clifton Alliance II slipped to 24-4 when they batted first at home to Hornsea, whose Richard Medforth took 4-35.

Alistair Wray made 29 as the hosts rallied to 121 all out.

Hornsea then lost two cheap wickets before Paul Clappison (67no) and Medforth (29no) sealed an eight-wicket win.

There was a one-sided match at Londesborough Park, where second-placed Park crashed to a heavy defeat at the hands of Hull II.

Hull made 181-8 as Darren Moody took 3-33 and Tom Sowersby 3-25.

Londesborough’s batting imploded as they crashed to 65 all out to lose by 116 runs.

Malton & Old Malton missed the opportunity to go joint second when they suffered a 28-run defeat at Thirsk, which boosted the hosts’ chances of survival.

Thirsk struggled along to 137 all out in 44 overs, with Tony Linsley taking 3-15.

In reply Malton fell to 27-4 and spinner James Wilkinson mopped up the tail with 4-17 off 6.4 overs.

Mike Linsley top-scored for the losers with 35.

Woodhouse Grange II have a 32-point lead after beating bottom side Thorp Arch by five wickets. Matt Hattee made 82 for the victors.

Ed Day hit 62 to help Tadcaster Magnet clock up a 20-run win at York III. Paul Downey added 36 as Magnet reached 217-8.

Toby Cleminson led the home response with 52, but John Hill took 4-35 in nine overs to terminate the reply on 197.

In division one, Heworth beat Harrogate by nine wickets.

’Gate were cut down for 90 by Dan Walton (3-35), Rich Walton (3-30) and Sam Lingard (3-9).

Lingard then followed with 30 not out and Neil Johnson made 38 not out.

Sessay suffered a setback in their promotion bid when they lost at Fenner by seven wickets.

Mark Wilkie hit an unbeaten 116 in Sessay’s 185-5. Liam Carver had Fenner wobbling at 46-3 but a 140-run stand won the game.

Casey Rudd hit 85 and Sam Leeson 62 as Bridlington stacked up 241-8 against Beverley Town II.

Peter Parnaby had 4-26 for Town, but his side were all out for 114.

RICHARD BOWLING lived up to his name by capturing 7-31 to dismiss Ripon for 119 at Hovingham in division three.

His brother, Dave, had earlier made 59 and Paul Deverill 36 in a home score of 199-7.

Acomb got the better of a draw with Carlton Towers. Paul Hemingway led the way for Acomb with 80, while Neil Grant made 41 in a score of 247-6. Jonathon Dilks was unbeaten with 134 as Adam Coulson took 4-34 and Towers closed on 234-6.

A knock of 102 from Driffield’s Will Norman went unrewarded as Duncombe Park won a top-two clash by four wickets.

Kev Woodcock added 49 as Driffield hit 259-6 and the Park reply was fronted by Paul Wilkie (80no) and Alistair Holmes (40no).

Dringhouses moved into second place when Mick Kenyon (4-32) and Gary Wilson (4-29) set up a two-wicket win over Scarborough.

Osbaldwick had a 72-run win at Sessay after hitting 266-8, with Adam Burton making 72.

Sheriff Hutton beat Pocklington by 94 runs, with Tom Harrison making 92.

Patrington maintained their two-point lead at the top of division four when Craig Foster’s 5-35 set up a six-wicket win over Huby.

Hugh Sheddon made 43 and Richard Steel 40 as Huby posted 160.

Patrington were then driven to victory by Jordan Critchley, who made 67, and Mark Pollard, with 36.

H Thomas (46) and B Worley (55) scored all but 25 of Drax’s total of 126 against Civil Service, whose Nick Claxton took 4-19.

Will Phelps dominated the reply in hitting 81 as he and Richard Wells (26) took Service to an eight-wicket win.

Hull Zingari were seven- wicket winners over Goole, who opened up with 134-5 as Neil Webster made 58.

Zingari’s response of 135-3 included 50 from James Micklethwaite.

Bowlers prevailed at Rowntrees, where a 25-run win for the hosts enabled them to move up to fourth place at the expense of Fenner.

M Keyworth made 29 as Rowntrees & Huntington were all out for 118. Jack Hugill (4-30) then dismissed four of the top six Fenner batsmen, all for ducks. Tom Shaw took 3-21 to end Fenner’s reply at 93.

Malton batted first when they entertained Easingwold and made 170-9 through Stuart Whatmore (29no) and Jimmy Baxter (26). Rob Harrison took 4-46.

In reply, Alan Robinson made 36, but Whatmore took 5-30 and Ryan Gaughan 3-23 to reduce the visitors to 118-9.

New Earswick gained an 83-run victory at Pickering when Andrew James took a sharp catch at slip off the last ball of the match.

James, who held three catches, had earlier hit an unbeaten 112 in carrying his bat for his second century of the season and his 13th for Earswick.

With Marcus Johnson making 37 and Kev Barker 33 not out, Earswick totalled 223-4.

Charlie Marwood logged a defiant 88 but Rob Davies’ 3-29 and James’ safe hands had Pickering all out for 140, one ball away from a draw.

Ted Donkin’s undefeated 95 steered hosts Pocklington to a one-wicket win over Brandesburton in division six.

’Burton had set a target of 217-7 through Kev Atkinson (53) and Mike Sharpe (42). F Parry took 3-59 for Pock.

Donkin’s support came from Gary Milner with 29.

Thorp Arch opened the door to survival when they had a six-wicket victory at Carlton Towers.

Jamie Pocklington hit 65 for the hosts and John Torn made 28 not out in a total of 153-8.

Hovingham slipped to the bottom of the division after losing by eight wickets to Dunnington.

Ali Thorpe made 27 for Hov before Dunnington won at 122-2 with Josh Tattersall making 42 and Johnny Andrew 46 not out.

Woodhouse Grange powered to 238-7 against Whitkirk as Ash Cattle (31), Dan Wilson (67), Tom White (49) and Russ Bilton (36no) made hay.

Bilton followed with a pair of cheap wickets but Whitkirk drew fairly comfortably at 156-7.

IT was the Woodhead show as Cawood beat Drax by 39 runs in division seven.

Cawood’s Pete Woodhead made 62 as he shared a 101-run stand with Dan Woodhead, who made 52.

Pete Woodhead then took a hat-trick in a 12-over stint that earned him figures of 6-34 as Drax were dismissed for 137.

Civil Service beat Sheriff Hutton by one wicket after a rearguard action from Rich Simpson, Andy Tessier and Dev Budarayavalasa.

They lasted 16 overs and scored 43 runs as Civil knocked off Sheriff’s total despite Wayne Fawcett’s 5-38. Sheriff’s 164 included 57 from Jag Gopalappa.

Ryan Pepper’s 5-16 cemented New Earswick’s second place when Huby were all out to lose by 72 runs.

Stillington had an eight-wicket win over Dringhouses.

Rowntrees & Huntington drew at Tadcaster, who totalled 164 thanks to Matt Hunt’s 54.

Sean Marshall hit an undefeated 62 to steer Rowntrees to 150-6.

SELBY fell from first to third place in division five after taking only ten points from the worst of a draw against Stillington.

Oliver Everard hit ten fours in his 74, Wayne Linton got 31 and Karl Simpson made 28 in Stillington’s 174-7 as Steve Precious claimed 4-32.

Selby were reduced to 61-7 by some tight bowling from Simpson (4-15), but Jamie Middleton (30), Neil Darley (21no) and Joe Romaniw (21no) saw Selby draw at 135-8.

Welton II lost by nine wickets at Yapham after being bowled out for 54 as Martin Pearson claimed 4-7.

Mike Plevin (25no) and Jack Holman (20no) knocked off the target.

Heworth moved into second place with a 107-run win at Bolton Percy.

Lee Bradshaw made 109 not out and G Ogden 35 in a total of 225-5.

In Bolton’s 118, Martin Pears made 25 as Guy Wilkinson took 3-25.

Castleford beat York IV by four wickets. Dave Patmore made 39 and T Wright 48 not out in York’s 167-8.

Hornsea were beaten at home by Londesborough Park, whose Tom Williamson captured 7-46 as the hosts were restricted to 173-7. Skipper John Savage made 63 and Graeme Taylor 50. Park were taken to a winning 176-5 by Sam Dodd (60no).

Sheriff Hutton Bridge took over as leaders when they beat lowly Stamford Bridge by four wickets.

Brian Last made 37 at the top of the order on his debut for Stamford but Dave Speake (3-35) and 14-year-old James Kay (2-32) engineered a collapse.

Des Healey (53) and Graham Tipping (41no) added 80 for the seventh wicket to take the score to 176-7.

Speake (29) and Steven Crowder (35) posted a half-century opening stand before Peter Crowder made an unbeaten 43.
