Newcomers Brandesburton gained their first victory at the eighth attempt when they recorded a seven-wicket home win over third-placed Osbaldwick in division six.

Nigel Rippon hit 75 out of the York side’s total of 123. Harry Atkin logged nine maidens in a 12-over spell that earned him 4-18.

Stu Robinson led Brandesburton to their first outright victory with a captain’s knock of 55 not out.

Fellow league debutants Copmanthorpe dismissed Carlton Towers for only 48 and then knocked off the modest target for the loss of only one wicket. Pocklington’s batsmen ran amok against fellow strugglers Cawood, totting up a massive 322-7.

Ted Donkin hit 107, while Josh Britland’s 50 was his fourth successive half-century. Chris Satmer struck 57 not out off 29 balls and S Parkinson 32 off ten deliveries.

Cawood opted for a safe draw, with Nigel Bartram making 33 in a total of 131-5.

Nine Hovingham batsmen were clean bowled and the other wicket was a run out as they made 161 against Woodhouse Grange, with Alistair Thorpe hitting 82.

Sam Shipley took 4-27 and Ashley Cattle 4-40 and Tom Stubley then made 32 in a four-wicket win.
