CIVIL Service’s promotion hopes in division seven received a setback when they were beaten at home by Tadcaster Magnet by five wickets.

Kevin Wakefield claimed 5-17 and James Key 3-31 as Service were dismissed for 115, with Simon Desborough making 45 and Ian Tessier 30. Oliver Pickard hit 60 for Magnet.

Table-topping Rowntrees & Huntington beat bottom side Drax by five wickets. Paul Horner (3-36) and Pete Edmondson (4-31) had Drax all out 132. Horner then hit 48 as he and John Dowd (48) shared a 96-run partnership.

New Earswick moved up to third place with a seven-wicket victory over Dringhouses, who were bowled out for 71 as Stuart Masheder claimed 4-14. Simon Richards made 28 to ensure New Earswick won.

Sheriff Hutton reached 133-5 with Tony Hull making 33 as Dan Hardy claimed 3-38. Mick Bradley then bowled Huby out for 52 with 7-23.
