Pilmoor Evening Cricket League division one leaders Sessay handed out an emphatic defeat to hosts Easingwold.

James Easton bowled a fine five-over spell to claim three top-order wickets for the loss of just ten runs.

With Dan Easton taking 2-24 and Dominic Atkinson 4-7, Easingwold were all out for 55.

Joe Watson (39 not out) and Robbie Fountain (17 not out) took Sessay to 57 without loss in the tenth over.

Thirsk were involved in a similar contest at Newburgh.

Jake Petty (3-17), Anthony Elders (2-4) and Tom Broadley (2-1) put the skids under the hosts who were all out for 55.

Rob Proudley (14) and Tom Banks (11) were the only batsmen to make double figures.

James Trueman, with 24 not out, and Ben England (14 not out) took Thirsk to 58-1 in the 12th over.

Crayke batted first at Clifton Alliance and looked set for a decent score after Adam Fairhurst made 23, Graeme Dawson 32 and John Dey 27.

But they collapsed to 103 all out with Lewis Clark (4-23) and Simon Cook (3-4) excelling.

Matt Phillips, with 49 not out, and James Postill with an unbeaten 50, took Clifton to a comfortable ten-wicket win in 11 overs.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge’s good form continued when they won at Helperby.

Batting first, they toiled to make 106-7, David Speak top-scoring with 30 as Charlie Grassby took 2-14.

However, they got on top with Jamie Hopper taking 2-5 and Danny Clipstone 3-19, Helperby could muster only 65-7 with James Mannion unbeaten on 19.

Maximum men Dringhouses won at Sheriff Hutton, where they posted 163-4 with Sam Lingard making 32 and Chris Storey 41.

Sheriff Hutton made a spirited response through Geoff Schofield (39) and Johnny Uttley (51 ret), but closed short on 139-4.

Acomb batted first against visiting Stillington and posted a formidable 157-1 with half-centuries from Ryan Diver and Matthew Dale, supported by 29 not out from Joe Dale.

When Stillington replied, Karl Simpson made 48 and Chris Brown 30, but wickets fell to Jack Woodworth (4-20) and the visitors’ reply, also hindered by a brace of run-outs, closed on 111-7.

By far the closest contest of the programme was at Raskelf, where Richard Brown (47 not out) and Peter Haywood (25) helped the hosts to 113-9.

A Keeley (2-20) and Toby Stirk (2-25) enjoyed the most success for Alne.

Tom Shaw, with 48, seemed to be setting Alne on the way to victory, but John Wilson took 2-21 and Alne fell behind the required run rate.

Duncan Stirk (28) kept Alne in contention, but he was bowled by Harry Scurr (2-29) off the last ball attempting to score the three runs needed for victory before Alne closed on 111-5.

New Earswick batted first at Civil Service and made 127-3,.

The hosts’ reply fell short at 115-4.
