THE division one title race between Thirsk and Sessay will go into the final week in the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League.

Thirsk have a one-point lead over Sessay and will take their fourth successive title if they win their last match at Crayke.

Thirsk enjoyed an overwhelming triumph at Easingwold in their latest fixture.

The home side made 92-5 with Dan Copeland (31) and Andrew Metcalfe (26) to the fore, while Ryan McKendry (2-17) and Ross McAndrew (3-19) were the successful bowlers.

McKendry led Thirsk to victory in the tenth over with an unbeaten 67 as Thirsk made 94-1.

Sessay had a hard-earned win at Clifton Alliance.

Clifton posted 92-4, with James Postill making 35 and Sessay’s Luke Ramsay taking 3-23.

Sessay seemed to be cruising to victory at 76-3 with Nick Thorne having made 31, but Clifton made them work hard to reach 94-7 after Bob Taylor had claimed 3-15 and Niall Tilsley took 2-17.

Acomb moved level on points with Easingwold at the bottom after a convincing win over Crayke.

Peter Carr made 47 out of Crayke’s 100-7, while Acomb’s Adam Stroughair took 2-20 and Sam Lingard 2-18.

Matt Dickenson (48no) and Lingard (31) then underwrote Acomb’s wining reply of 105-1.

Newburgh beat Sheriff Hutton Bridge as Jason Sargent (50no) and Gavin Watt (25no) helped them to 123-3.

Bridge were all out for 80, with Chris Todd top-scoring on 25 as John Thornton claimed 3-17 and Charles Ramsay 2-23.

Helperby took a huge stride towards securing the division two championship when they beat rivals Stillington.

Joe Kinsella and John Tuley each made half-centuries as Helperby closed on 110-2. Stillington’s reply fell short at 76-7 with Karl Simpson hitting 43. John Cannon took 4-16 for Helperby.

Alne are the only team who can catch Helperby following an eight-run success over Rowntrees.

Tom Shaw (52 ret) lifted Alne to 112-5 and Rowntrees closed on 104-7. Shaw took 3-19 and Dan Raper claimed 3-24.

Huby beat Civil Service by 18 runs.
