THIRSK hold a three-point advantage at the top of division one at the halfway stage of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League.

Thirsk’s march to another title continued with a four-wicket win over Crayke.

Graeme Dawson, with 65, and Peter Carr, with 32, took Crayke to 132-3.

Thirsk were made to work hard in reply, as John Dey and Jamie Perkins each took 2-33, but Mark Nursey (41), Jamie Howe (20 not out) and Stuart Christon (20) saw Thirsk to 135-6 with seven balls to spare.

Newburgh batted first at Clifton Alliance and made 127-6 as Charles Ramsay made 36 and Rob Proudley 44.

Jon Gilham (2-10) and Niall Tillsley (2-43) had most success for Clifton.

Clifton’s reply had a solid look to it as Sean Holmes made 22, Nick Hindle 27, Alex Renton 37 and Mark Taylor 27 not out, enabling them to take the points in the 18th over at 131-3.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge’s difficult season continued when they lost at home to Sessay. Only David Phillips, who made 41, and Brendan Ledgeway (21) made headway as they posted 97-8, with Karl Carver (3-22) and Luke Ramsay (2-24) doing well for Sessay.

Robbie Fountain led Sessay’s reply with 47 and Chris Till made 20 as the visitors won in the 17th over, despite 2-21 from Ledgeway.

Easingwold batted first at Acomb and their 114-3 was thanks to Shiraz Kasi, who made 37, and 45 from Andrew Metcalfe.

Acomb replied with 115-5 to register their second win of the season as Ryan Diver made 30, Matt Williams 33 and Andy Green 29 not out.

Division two leaders Sheriff Hutton batted first when they entertained Alne and were restricted to 91-8 by Toby Stirk (3-14) and Owen Smythe (2-7), Geoff Schofield top-scoring with 25.

Vince Coan took 2-35 and Joe Richardson 2-9, but Alne claimed the points at 92-7.

Helperby stepped up their challenge with an eight-wicket win at Civil Service.

Martin Lancelott (32) and Will Phelps (36) helped the hosts post 117-6, while Joe Corner (2-30) and George Swiers (2-15) were the most successful Helperby bowlers.

Dan Marston (50 retired) and Dan Spink (44) led Helperby to a comfortable 118-2.

Raskelf’s journey to Rowntrees was rewarded with a five-run win.

Hamish Taylor made 21 to add to a half-century from Angus Taylor as Raskelf posted 132-9. Sam Porter’s 4-36 strangled the reply to 127-8.
