THIRSK are the early leaders of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League division one after securing maximum points.
Sessay batted first against Thirsk and made 103-3, with Nick Thorne (29), Jacob Spencer (35) and Nick Harrison (27) their main contributors. Tom Polkinghorne took 2-35 for Thirsk.
The reply was led by Liam McKendry, with 40, and Ben England, with 29. James Easton took 2-26 and Liam Carver 2-34, but Thirsk won at 104-5 with an over to spare.
Newburgh made the highest score of the week – 154-1 against Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
Dave Taylor (4-16) undermined Bridge’s reply, which closed well adrift on 102-7, with Andy Kenny making 28 and Mark Fisher ending 24 not out.
Newly-promoted Helperby recorded their first win in the top flight at Clifton Alliance.
Opener Rohan Blandford top-scored with 55 as Helperby made 126-4, while Bob Taylor had the best return for Clifton of 3-30.
In reply, Clifton got into difficulty against Dan Marston (3-31) and John Wilson (5-29). Alastair Wray and Jon Gilham each made 23, but Clifton closed on 115-9.
Easingwold batted first at Acomb, with Tommy Langstaff making 49 and Paul Skilbeck 38 not out as they totalled 108-3.
Sam Dobbs took 2-15 for Acomb.
Andrew Green led the hosts’ reply with an unbeaten 68 as Acomb won comfortably at 109-3.
In division two, Crayke beat Huby after Simon Lewis (34) and Graeme Dawson (50 ret) took them to 109-3.
Huby pushed them all the way, with Thomas Piercy making 51. However, youngster John Dey claimed 3-22 and Steve Hazell took 2-13 as Huby closed on 104-6.
Rowntrees recorded their second win as they dismissed Raskelf for 42, with 15-year-old Sam Gall taking 5-19 from five overs and Richard Tuite getting 3-2.
Rowntrees were led to victory by opener Jack Gabbatiss, who made 33 not out, and they secured the points at 44-4 in the eighth over.
Stillington’s second win of the season came at the expense of visitors Alne. Rob Steele (44no) and Jack Cartwright (29) took Stillington to 117-2.
Alne’s Fran Raper (41), Richard Henry (23) and Will Myers (24) put up a fight, but Carl Simpson (3-25) ensured Alne closed on 107-5.
Civil Service batted first against Sheriff Hutton and were indebted to Graham Sherlock (50 ret) and Will Phelps (30) as they reached 115-6. Joel Wilford returned 2-22 for Sheriff and hit 50 runs.
Andy Tessier was the top Service bowler with 3-27 as Sheriff reached a winning 116-3.
