Sessay kept up their 100 per cent record at the top of Pilmoor Evening Cricket League division one .

Visiting Helperby took first innings and were given a flying start by Lane Tutty and Peter Orton, the pair putting together a century opening partnership.

Orton fell for 33 and Tutty for 68 as Sessay got back into the game with Tim Hall claiming 3-20 as the target was limited to 134-6.

Sessay’s reply was led by skipper Matthew Wass with 47 and Chris Till with 28, but Dan Marston claimed 3-22 and Sessay went into the penultimate over still needing 21 runs.

But big-hitting from Paul Flintoff saw Sessay home.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge took their first points of the season with victory at Clifton Alliance.

David Speake, with 30, and Ian Clish, with 24, provided the bulk of the visitors’ 116-6, Scott Hopkinson being the outstanding home bowler with 4-24.

Hopkinson made an unbeaten 49, but Taylor Coyle claimed 3-21 for Bridge and Clifton could never get up to the necessary run rate as their reply closed on 100-6.

Alne were another side to taste victory for the first time when they won a close encounter at Dringhouses.

N Johnson (46) and Stuart Morley (36) led them to 110-6 with Chris Evans (2-12) and Dave Brown (2-37) excelling.

Evans made 52 in the home reply, but Alne curbed Dringhouses to 103-5 with A Keighley taking 2-18.

In the second division, Sheriff Hutton suffered their first defeat of the campaign at Huby.

Robert Steel (32), Max Lord (46), Mike South (33no) and Dan Grainger (24) propelled Huby to 158-7.

Sheriff’s bowling honours went to Chris Gartland with 2-23, D Hull with 2-32 and P Batley with 2-28.
