Helperby, Thirsk and Sessay are the early pacesetters in division one of the Pilmoor Evening Cricket League.

Helperby were 70-run winners at Dringhouses thanks to a knock of 108 from Lane Tutty in their 168-7. Sam Bibby (3-39) and Lewis Chipchase (2-30) shared the bowling honours.

Dringhouses never threatened and, although Bibby top scored with 28, they closed on 98-5.

Champions Thirsk were five wickets winners over Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Bridge’s 101-5 was based on Murray Coyle’s 39 and 29 from Dan Kiernan, while Jake Petty took 4-22 for Thirsk.

Stuart Christon then made 57 as Thirsk won with time to spare. Harry Sutcliffe took 2-22.

Sessay batted first against Alne, with Nick Thorne hitting ten fours and two sixes in his 65 out of a challenging 158-4.

Stuart Morley claimed 2-48 for Alne and followed up with 36 as his side closed on 97-1. James Belli hit 51 not out.

Newburgh won by nine wickets at Clifton Alliance.

Alliance posted a respectable 120-4, with Scott Hopkinson making 35 and Niall Tilsley 22 not out.

Newburgh openers Rob Proudley (46) and Tom Banks (39no) spearheaded the chase as they won with four balls to spare.

In division two, Rowntrees & Huntington made 118-4 against Sheriff Hutton, who completed a four-wicket win in the 18th over.
