York top the Foss Evening Cricket League first division after a 47-run victory over Heworth which sees their opponents prop up the table. Nick Stephen (49 not out), Russell Bowry (27) and Toby Pratt (26) took the Clifton Parkers to 138-6 before Kallam Ahmed, Glen Richmond and Chris Wright all bagged a brace of wickets as Heworth limped to 91-8.

Stamford Bridge’s power-hitter Dom Rhodes was in form with 65 to help post 135-4 against Pocklington, Will Parker (27) and Paul Milner (25) also contributing. Ted Donkin’s 30 kept Pock in the game until Ollie Pimlott’s 3-15 ensured they fell 30 runs short.

Woodhouse Grange were reliant on captain Andrew Bilton and brother Chris to avoid a shock defeat by promoted Osbaldwick.

Andrew took 3-5, but Andy Horner’s 42 from 27 balls saw Osso post a competitive 100-8.

J Snowden (3-14) and Nick Laurie (3-28) had Woodhouse struggling until Chris (30no) and Andrew (16no) took up the seven-an-over asking rate to win with seven balls and four wickets remaining.

Westow, awaiting key players to return from university, were bundled out for 50 by Dunnington’s George Wilson (4-12). Jack Bolam (41no) made short work of the chase, which took just 55 balls.

Londesborough Park’s Dan Howard thrashed the first hundred of the season to spoil Thixendale’s party after having received their third division champions trophy before the match. Howard hit 111 as Park set a daunting 221-4 in 20 overs.

Youngster Ben Shingles (4-24) caused Thix to struggle to 82-6. Ben Potter (28) could not stave off a 139-run defeat.

Stockton & Hopgrove had to rely on stalwart batsman Rich Kerrison to avoid a slip-up at Yapham. Stockton were reduced to 50-7 by Jon Flint’s 3-6 but Kerrison’s unbeaten 22 led the 86-7 total before two wickets apiece for Billy Kerrison and Kalum Perera saw Yapham out for 62.

Bishopthorpe held their nerve to beat Aviva Vikings, despite a fine century partnership between Sharma (73) and Pradeep (45no).

Bishopthorpe had earlier posted 137-6 with solid contributions from Scott Clapham (42), Mike Dale (30) and Ian Holmes (27). Bubwith overcame losing both their openers for ducks in the first three deliveries from Adam Mosley (3-17) to successfully chase down The Retreat’s 114-8 of which Salman Syed hit 50. Ed Smith (44) and Neil Pratt saw the hosts home despite a brace of wickets from Nadeem Shefta. Dunnington had youngster Jonny Andrew (85no) to thank as they posted 137-3 against Retreat II in division three.

Z Ahmed made 62 but it was not enough as Retreat II closed on 118-7.

In a high-scoring match at York RI, Heworth Colts squeaked home by seven runs.

Eight sixes from Greg Sykes (66no) and a knock of 30 by Freddie Coughlin took Heworth to 172-6 on a lightning-fast outfield.

Hard hitting from Michael Charno (44) and Stevie Littlewood (45) kept RI up with the rate, but with 18 required from the last over Adam Livingston (2-30) struck.

A superb all-round performance from Ovington’s M Asad dominated a defeat of Melbourne.

Asad made an undefeated 63 in Ovington’s 103-7 against Neil Barret (3-10) and Freddie Collins (3-15).

Brian Underwood (24) was the only Melbourne player to seriously trouble the scorers, but Asad (3-9) and Ovington skipper Ben Busby (2-9) saw the men from the Little Knavesmire triumphant.
