BARMBY Moor beat Pocklington to move out of the bottom two in division one of the Foss Evening Cricket League.

Mike Brent’s bowling return of 5-22 and Jerome Remblance’s 3-16 reduced Pocklington to 82-9, despite 40 from Ted Donkin.

Barmby them claimed a vital four-wicket win as Sean Houltham (29) counteracted Pock skipper Alex Downey’s 3-17.

Londesborough Park sped to a nine-wicket victory in a battle of the youngsters against Heworth. Will Ravenhall (38no) and Olly Sherwood (28) led Heworth to 94-4, but Greg Drewery (42) and Callum Robertson (41no) wrapped up victory with 25 balls to spare.

Stamford Bridge retain top spot as they kicked their heels at Dunnington, while York and Woodhouse Grange watched the rain come down at Clifton Park and remain in second and third places respectively.

Osbaldwick have a three-point cushion at the top of division two after a 43-run victory in a high-scoring match against Westow, with 328 runs made in 32 overs. Josh Cockerill became the second century-maker of the summer, retiring on 101 not out, while Mike Hattee (27 retired) and Andy Horner (33no) led Osbaldwick to 185-2. Westow made a good fist of the chase with young strokemakers Alastair Fothergill (51) and Matty Shipley (42) in the runs.

The Retreat picked up a seven-wicket victory over winless Wheldrake, who look to be heading for a second successive relegation. Wheldrake skipper Martin Lambert hit 50 as his side made 98-4. Andy Northfield also made 50 and Salman Syed an unbeaten 30 as The Retreat passed the winning line with seven balls to spare.

Bishopthorpe are just outside the promotion spots after victory in a see-saw match against Melbourne. Melbourne made 85-7, thanks primarily to Charlie Lambert’s 34. Harry Collins (3-32) then helped to reduce Bish to 18-5, but Colin Markham hit a vital 36 to see his side home by two wickets with eight balls to spare.

The match between Stockton & Hopgrove and Yapham was another victim of the weather.

Heworth Colts maintained hopes of an immediate return to the second tier with a win over The Retreat II that leaves them top of division three at the halfway point of the season. Tidy bowling from the Colts restricted Retreat to 87-5 with B Beetham scoring 26. After the loss of an early wicket, Matt Huffer (40no) and Johnny Elsegood (34no) added an unbroken 78 to lead the Colts to victory with 31 balls to spare.

Ovington claimed a penultimate ball victory over Dunnington Academy to keep themselves firmly in the promotion hunt. Sam Beavers’ 27 led the Academy to 115-5 before S Littlewood made 41 to repel Jack Spofforth’s 3-24 as Ovington won by three wickets.

Thixendale were 80-3 after 12 overs before the rain came against Fulfordgate, but the point kept them in the top two.
