Woodhouse Grange claimed a record tenth Foss Evening Cricket League title despite inactivity.

While a waterlogged pitch ruled out their match against Barmby Moor, with their other rivals rained off the leeway is too wide to span enabling Grange to toast their title triumph.

Any one of Dunnington, Heworth or Barmby Moor could finish as runners-up.

The downpours put paid to Heworth’s match against Stamford Bridge, while Wheldrake worryingly conceded a fifth match of the season to give Dunnington two points.

Londesborough Park sit in prime position to claim the second division title, holding a two-point advantage over Yapham going into the final round of matches.

However, should Londesborough lose to Pocklington and Yapham claim victory over The Retreat the men from Smylett Lane would claim the title based on their better record this term against Park.

Yapham kept up the pressure by defeating Pocklington, for whom Adam Thomas scored 27 of their 79-8, with Martin Pearson (28 not out and 3-25) and Guy Brumfield (27 and 3-18) starring for the home side.

In the other division two match, an unbeaten 53 from Salman Syed ensured The Retreat won by 17 runs defending 117 against Melbourne, despite the efforts of Charlie Lambert (32) and Tim Blackmore (25).

Stockton & Hopgrove have claimed the third division crown as crushing wins over Dunnington Academy and Fulfordgate made Westow’s recent run of three successive wins irrelevant.

Dan Fairclough crashed his way to 49 as Stockton overhauled Fulfordgate’s 82-6 in just 8.1 overs.

Westow won their third game on the bounce defeating bottom side Thixendale by 11 runs. Martyn Woodliffe (39) and Matty Turnbull (30) were the backbone of Westow’s 121-5 before Nigel French (49) did his best to lead his side to victory but fell just short.
