York Hospitals Golf Society topped the scores in the fifth York City Supporters’ Trust Golf Day at Pike Hills Golf Club, writes Mark Smith.

The winners pipped Pavers in the three-quarter stableford competition, which raised £2,500 for the Minstermen’s youth development, plus a further £250 donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance which is the Pike Hills GC Captain’s Charity for 2012.

Last year’s winners, Pocklington Windows, were third, while City stars Chris Smith and Matty Blair , who played with season-ticket holders Alan Wright and Geoff Metcalfe, were a creditable fourth.

Among the 19 teams competing were City boss Gary Mills, his assistant Darron Gee, and players Scott Kerr , Michael Potts , Dan Parslow and goalkeeper Michael Ingham , the latter winning champagne for being nearest the pin. He received his prize from co-organiser Neil Jacques.

Nearest the line was won by Gary Metcalfe and the longest drive was hit by Gary Gordon. Former Manchester United and Scotland captain Martin Buchan made his fourth appearance in the tournament.
