York City Rowing Club's Tom Ransley wins bronze in Olympic eight final

YORK City Rowing Club star Tom Ransley bagged a bronze medal in the eight final at London 2012 today.

The 26-year-old University of York graduate and his crew-mates pushed world champions Germany all the way at Eton Dorney, leading the race just after the halfway stage.

However, Germany pulled clear in the final 500 metres and reigning Olympic champions Canada passed Great Britain to claim the silver medal.
