THE battle for the premier division title took another twist when the top four sides met in the York Minster Engineering Football League.

Leaders Huntington Rovers saw their 17-match unbeaten run ended by Dunnington, who won 2-0 to notch their seventh successive league triumph.

Old Malton St Mary’s moved to within a point of the summit thanks to a 3-0 victory over visitors Copmanthorpe.

Dunnington and St Mary’s both boast games in hand on their two beaten rivals.

First-half goals from Jimmy Wilmoth and Tom Richards – scoring for the third game on the trot – propelled Dunnington to three valuable points.

Unbeaten Old Malton had to wait until the second half to break the deadlock through Robbie Baker, while an own goal doubled their lead and Dean Nuttall’s seventh of the campaign comfirmed the win.

Dringhouses chalked up their third consecutive away win as they beat basement side Keystones 3-1.

Mitch Carter opened the scoring and before the break Dringhouses added goals from John Patrick and George Bissett.

The home side reduced the arrears with a second half penalty.

Having lost 6-0 in their previous home fixture, Hamilton Panthers bounced back in six-hitting style to beat Wilberfoss 6-0.

Paul King and Scott Evans both found the net in a minute in the first half and both marksmen struck again after the break.

Scott Milling also got on the scoresheet, but the pick of the goals was scored by Scott Nicholas.

Elsewhere, Rowntrees won 4-2 at Easingwold Town.

On a day when frost wiped out a third of the scheduled fixtures, only two games went ahead in division one.

Amotherby & Swinton’s unbeaten home record was ended by resurgent Malton & Norton, who won 2-1 thanks to goals from Simon Reeves and Kevin Oxendale. Mikey Brown was Amotherby’s scorer.

Tockwith beat Post Office 3-2 with two goals from Graham Hutchinson and one from Ben King. Jimmy Whitehead and Ben Branigan were on target for Post Office.
