York City defender Daniel Parslow was presented with his Press Player of the Year award for 2010/11 before the pre-season friendly against Sunderland.
Parslow starred during the campaign both at right-back and in the centre of defence and claimed the accolade for the second time in three seasons. His nearest rival for the trophy was James Meredith, who finished two points behind, with captain Chris Smith placed third.
The Press’ City writer, Dave Flett, who made the presentation, said: “Dan’s commitment to York City and professionalism is an example to everybody at the club and those standards were again matched by his performances on the pitch last season.
“His transformation into a quality right-back, as comfortable going forward as he was in fulfilling his defensive duties, was particularly impressive and he is probably the best header of a ball in City’s squad.”
