PREMIER League Sunderland will parade new signings Craig Gardner, David Vaughan and Kieren Westwood in tonight’s friendly against York City at Bootham Crescent.

Gardner, Vaughan and Westwood have been snapped up from Birmingham City, Blackpool and Coventry respectively during the close season and are all poised to play their first game in Sunderland colours.

Midfield talisman Lee Cattermole, former Newcastle United centre-back Titus Bramble and Michael Turner have also been confirmed for the match following spells injured on the sidelines at the end of last season.

The likes of Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan and England midfielder Kieran Richardson are expected to figure as well, but manager Steve Bruce is undecided whether recent recruits from Manchester United – Wes Brown and John O’Shea – will play a part.

Fellow summer additions such as £8.1million, 18-year-old Connor Wickham, Seb Larsson, Ji Dong-Won and Ahmed Elmohamady, meanwhile, are unlikely to feature having joined pre-season training later than the rest of the squad and long-term injury casualties Craig Gordon, Frazier Campbell and David Meyler are definitely ruled out.

Tonight’s game precedes a tour of Germany for the Black Cats, starting against Arminia Bielfield on Sunday, ahead of other fixtures at Hannover 96 and Borussia Monchengladbach.
