ROB McGILL has joined York City's board as the club's business development director.

The appointment comes after the resignation of commercial director Pete Davis and means City's board will consist of six members again.

McGill, who is the father of fellow City directors Jason and Sophie, will also join financial director Terry Doyle, youth development and fans liaison director Steve Beck and stadium development director Ian McAndrew in the KitKat Crescent boardroom.

The appointment was proposed by City's owners JM Packaging - the family business of Jason and Rob McGill, who is the company's secretary.

It was then discussed at a full board meeting and sanctioned by a unanimous vote.

About his new role, Rob McGill said: "I will be looking to create new business opportunities and networking for increased income, as well as leading a systematic review of working practices for best use of resources. We clearly need to maximise all possible financial opportunities at the club in order to support our on-field ambitions for a return to the Football League."
