The Brewers have won on their two Conference visits to York. In 2004/05 they were successful 2-1 and last term triumphed by the only goal of the game.
City's line-up on November 12, 2005 was; Porter, Price, Andrews, McGurk, Merris, Convery (Mallon), Yalcin, Dunning, O'Neill, (Stewart), Bishop, Donaldson. Players who have represented both clubs include Pat Lally, Tom Sweeney, Alan Kamara, Paul Groves, Neil Warnock and currently Jon Shaw.
It happened on August 25
1958: In the first Fourth Division game staged at Bootham Crescent Norman Wilkinson netted twice in a 2-0 victory over Southport in front of 8,783. City had started the season with two wins.
1962: City beat Doncaster Rovers 1-0 at home thanks to a Wally Gould goal. The crowd was 5,885 and this Fourth Division campaign had started with two wins and a draw.
1969: Paul Aimson made his return to City colours following his transfer from Huddersfield Town in a win over Exeter City at Bootham Crescent. Mick Mahon netted the only goal watched by 6,200, almost twice as big as the previous attendance. City had made a good start to the Division Four season with three wins and a draw.
1973: City opened this Division Three (League One) campaign with a 4-2 victory away to Charlton Athletic with goals from John Woodward (2) Jimmy Seal and Chris Jones.
2000: After successive defeats City picked up their first point of this Division Three season (League Two) with a 1-1 draw at Carlisle United. Peter Duffield scored from the penalty spot.
2001: A 2-1 home win over Leyton Orient with Lee Nogan and Michael Proctor on target in front of 2,661. City were fourth in Division Three (League Two).
