Huntington Rovers suffered a heavy home defeat for the second week running in the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division.

Rovers lost 6-2 to Haxby United and they are still a huge ten points adrift of runaway leaders Dringhouses, who were in York FA Saturday Senior Cup action.

Visitors Haxby took an early lead but Pete Laidlaw headed Huntington level and then put the hosts in front.

However, they were unable to take their advantage into the break as Haxby drew level on the stroke of half-time.

In the second half it was virtually one-way traffic as Haxby piled on the misery for Huntington.

The Haxby goals came from Ben James (2), Chris Holmes (2), Neil Holmes and Gary Newton.

York RI moved into the top three after a 5-0 home win over pointless Kartiers.

The Selby side were in contention until midway through the second half and then a brace apiece for Mark Woodward and Dave McNichol, to add to Darren Sellars’ opening goal, condemned Kartiers to their 26th game without a win.

Easingwold chalked up a fourth away draw from their last five trips as they drew 1-1 at Wilberfoss.

Mo Ciss must have thought he had hit the winner for Easingwold when he gave them the lead in the 89th minute, but Wilberfoss were awarded a penalty in the last minute and John Heads duly tucked it away.

The two main challengers to Wigginton in division one both recorded impressive away wins.

Nestlé hit six unanswered goals past Hemingbrough, while Selby RSSC came from a goal down at the break to win 3-1 at Tockwith.

Kev Butler hit a hat-trick for Nestlé to add to goals from Ross Moynihan, Dale Phillips and Wayne Scaife.

John Page scored all the Selby goals after Jamie Perkins had put Tockwith in front.

Dave Snowden scored both Pocklington goals in a 2-0 home win over St Clement’s.

Goals from Curtis Drummond and Tom Audsley saw Malton & Norton defeat Bishopthorpe 2-0.

Thorpe United collected their first point of the season from a 0-0 draw at home to Post Office. Division two leaders Terrington Glory suffered a first home defeat in 14 matches as they lost 2-1 to White Horse.

Brothers Dave and John Marshall scored for the Church Fenton side before James Miller snatched a late consolation goal for Terrington.

A Mark Neale hat-trick helped Ouseburn to their first win in ten games as they beat Strensall 3-0.

Huby recorded their best home win for five years as they hammered Crayke 5-1.

Danny Caman, Craig Richardson, Richard Jennison and Geordie Gross (2) were on target. Crayke’s reply came from Tom Hilling. Having lost top spot in division three last week, Elvington suffered another set back to their promotion hopes as they lost 4-2 at home to Aviva.

Ben Small and Tom Shellin hit the Harriers’ goals, with Joe Michelli (2), Warren Lowe and Geoff Pinkney scoring for Aviva.

F1 Racing opened up a three-point lead at the top after a 3-0 win at Wheldrake. Ross Howard, George Trifan and Steve McGarva netted.

Cliffe hammered basement side Barmby Moor 8-0 with goals from Alan Jackson (3), Chris Jackson (2), Tom Hogg, Shane Caukill and Tom Dunning.

Paul Crangle hit a hat-trick in Osbaldwick’s 4-0 win at Rufforth.

Gareth Inness scored twice as Civil Service beat Stillington 5-3.
