Updated: LEEDS United midfielder Will Hatfield will go straight into York City’s squad for today’s Blue Square Bet Premier clash at Southport (pitch inspection permitting) after signing on a month-long loan.

Hatfield, 19, captained the Elland Road club’s reserve team last season after being handed his first professional contract.

City boss Gary Mills moved to bolster his midfield ahead of the Haig Avenue match with Neil Barrett (injury) and Jonathan Smith (suspension) both ruled out and Andre Boucaud also doubtful due to a back spasm.

The Minstermen have also seen Robbie Weir and Djoumin Sangare depart Bootham Crescent in recent weeks.

Elsewhere, former City striker Adam Boyes has joined Blue Square Bet North promotion hopefuls Boston United following his release by Championship club Scunthorpe.

Boyes made just one appearance in 18 months at Scunthorpe, coming on as an 89th-minute substitute in a 4-2 Carling Cup defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.
