Dunnington trounced Post Office 8-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the York FA Saturday Senior Cup.

In the only third round tie in the Senior and Junior Cups to survive the weather on Saturday, Dunnington’s patience paid off.

After 30 minutes of stalemate, James Wilmott opened the scoring and they led 3-0 at half-time thanks to an own goal and a strike by Chris Burgess.

Early in the second half, Wilmott added his second from a free-kick and Tom Richards made it 5-0 from 35 yards.

Burgess completed his hat-trick and Matthew Wain added an eighth.

Only seven of the scheduled 32 fixtures went ahead in the York Minster Engineering Football League.

Thorpe United suffered their tenth successive division one defeat, losing 6-1 at home to Nestlé Rowntree.

Kev Butler put the visitors in front after eight minutes and he added his second after Ross Moynihan netted on 35 minutes.

Paul Scaife added a fourth and, although Matty Emmett pulled a goal back, Carl Thompson and Scaife were on target late on. Malton & Norton lost 1-0 at home to Tockwith.

The only home win of the day was in division two, as Crayke extended their unbeaten home run to 15 matches with a 7-1 win over basement side Stamford Bridge.

James Moverley scored a hat-trick to add to goals from Wayne Gibson, Tom Hilling (2) and Matthew Warriner. Matty Taylor got a consolation for Bridge.

Melbourne’s Dave Phelan scored the first league goal of 2011 but his side failed to capitalise on the early advantage as they lost 4-1 to Selby Olympia in division four.

Ally Cope hit both White Horse goals in the first half as the Church Fenton side won 2-0 at Thorpe in reserve ‘B’.

York RI opened up a 12-point lead at the top of reserve ‘C’ as they chalked up their fourth away win on the trot – a 3-1 victory at Tockwith.

Dave Clarke took his personal tally for the season into double figures with one goal, while Lee Dutton scored twice. Stuart Longbottom replied for Tockwith.

Strensall maintained their unbeaten start in reserve ‘D’ as two goals from Martin Stone and one from Liam Peverely eased them to a 3-1 win at F1 Racing.

Richard Norman replied for the hosts.
