MALTON and Norton RUFC celebrated a return to Yorkshire One action with their 12th successive win – a 42-22 victory over Castleford.
The Ryedale side were first to strike at The Gannock, with second-row Rich Webster touching down and Teei Piawi converting.
Piawi then kicked a penalty, but Cas hit back with two tries and a conversion to take the lead.
Ryan Lonsdale then crossed and Piawi converted, although Cas kicked a penalty to trail 17-15 at the break. Lonsdale, Josh Saunders, Sam Triffitt and Mark Bradshaw crossed and Piawi added a conversion and penalty.
York lost 3-0 at Scarborough in a game that descended into farce on a sodden pitch.
Scarborough’s points came from a first-half penalty. York had the better of a poor second half, but missed kickable penalties and had to settle for a point from a game best forgotten.
Selby were beaten 36-6 at home by Sheffield.
Pocklington switched their Yorkshire Two game with Roundhegians to Driffield and they were rewarded with a bonus-point 27-7 victory.
Roundhegians scored first and led 7-5 at the end of a scrappy first half, with Pock’s score coming from a forward drive finished by skipper Matt Webber.
The hosts took over in the second period and edged ahead with a long penalty from full-back Nick Bennett.
Wing Joe Holbrough then scored and Bennett converted, before racing over for a try of his own.
Holbrough strolled over for his second try and Bennett again added the conversion.
York RI and Rotherham Phoenix drew 16-16 in Yorkshire Three on a tricky New Lane surface.
RI took an early lead with a Scott Keeble penalty and Drewett added a try. Keeble scored a try in the second half and then kicked a penalty which seemed to have won the game.
However, Phoenix levelled with a penalty two minutes from time.
Nestlé Rowntree won 14-5 at Adwick Le Street in Yorkshire Five.
Adwick took the lead but Nestlé hit back with a Mike Winfield try, converted by Tom Atkinson. Winger Mike Chapman added a second converted try to seal the win.
