A MAXIMUM 180 from Clifton ‘A’s Carole Layne denied Cueball ‘B’ a total clearance in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Layne was Clifton’s lone success in a 10-1 defeat by front-runners Cueball, who were well led by captain Tracey Farmeary.

Farmeary won her singles in 22 arrows and vice-captain Bev Harton checked out 94.

Second-placed Burnholme are keeping the pressure on the leaders after winning a thrilling match against visitors Ox.

Denise Fowler hit the big scores for Ox and they entered the pairs all square, before Sandra and Tracey Bruce edged them in front.

Division three leaders Clifton had Sarah Clark checking out 95 for a 23-dart pairs leg with Alison Walker, who hit the tons as they silenced Lions.

Mount are holding on to second place after being pushed to the wire at Sun, whose Chris Turgoose won the opener with a 127 and 100.

Sun held a 4-3 advantage before Sue Gillan and Gemma Hall levelled for Mount and captain Sharon Mountain sealed the win with Bev Lawson.

Ox shot into a 4-0 advantage over visitors Shepherd ‘B’ and, although Jacky Sargeant and Ann North narrowed the gap, Ann Gibson and Kayleigh Whitehead secured victory.
