WINGER David McDermott has been released by York City after failing to start a senior match, writes Dave Flett.

Ex-Kidderminster midfielder McDermott was signed by the club after a promising pre-season trial, but has only managed four substitute appearances.

He last featured during Martin Foyle’s final game in charge – the 5-0 mauling at Mansfield – but his City career only amounted to 95 minutes from the bench.

McDermott’s departure has paved the way for new striker David Dowson on the wage bill, with caretaker manager Andy Porter saying: “He was on a month-to-month contract here and, while some people say he did not have the chances in the team, we felt he just did not perform enough to take him on for another month.

“We have to make changes and need to look at kicking things on, so we brought Dowson in instead to get something different up front.”

No shock there he wasnt getting played but he looked a real threat infront of goal in pre season. Good luck to the lad.

What a shame for 'Dermzy'. I'll be missing his intelligent messages on Facebook. I hope he finds another club near Birmzy.

Good! This utter fool was always slagging the club off during his Facebook tirades, ones which had the spelling of a four year old, and photos of himself that made him look like the Bet Lynch of mankind. Someone please tell him that vests, which look 10 times too big for him, are not the fashion. Took him a few months before he realised it was a public profile, by which time he had posted at least 10 posts about how he hated not being in "Brum" and seemingly getting over it by spending the weekends getting off his head with some very strange looking bimbos.

Maybe Ad Holmes needs to be made aware of this before wishing the fake tanned fool all the best.

I think the profile is now blocked so you wouldn't be able to read it, AdHolmes, but trust me - thr cr@p he came out with beggared belief.

Constantly bigging himself up in third person, hilarious pictures of him off his face in 'Revs' and general abuse the way of anything City.

I can back that up! I was regularly checking his status updates. One was 'Wat da f*&K am I doin here?" (or something to that extent). Well son, you're not here any longer. Sign on kid, or go back to school and learn how to spell! Good riddance.

Never really given a chance at Bootham Crescent, but he certainly had ability. Pity that he was so childish with his Facebook comments (this probably was the main reason why he was never given a chance). I wouldnt be suprised if he eventually played against us for either Tamworth,Kidderminst
er or Kettering and then he might just show us what we have missed out on.

He may have been silly writing bad stuff on face book, but still looked better and more skilful than some of the donkeys we have now (Gash number 1 ).
He looked up for it at all times.
Maybe he wrote that the mcgrabs have no real ambitions at the club,if he did well said on behalf of the poor suffering faithful.
Good luck mate but grow up a little.

Whatever - he is apparantly an idiot and I'd like to think we are at least a club with principles. What he said would have ensured that he was a maverick and could not fit in to any team. Bellamy springs to mind - talented but always going to under-perform as it is bloody hard work to be a one man band in any team if it is your mentality thet is at fault.
