Woodhouse Grange toppled Sessay by 35 runs in the Minster Engineering Senior Charity Cup cricket final.
Batting first Woodhouse opener Jon Bean declared his side’s intention by striking the first ball for four.
His innings of 28, including three fours, and Mike Burdett’s 52 not out, formed the backbone of the innings. Their third-wicket partnership of 45 enabled Woodhouse to post 133-5 in their overs of which Matthew Till (2-22) and Stuart Peirse (2-21) were the pick of the Sessay attack.
Sessay got off to a slow start due to tight bowling and keen fielding.
Only Till, with 21, made a significant contribution faced by Steve Burdett (2-12) and Chris Suddaby (2-31). Three run-outs also blighted the chase which ended did on 98-9.
Mike Burdett was adjudged man-of-the-match.
