ONLY 17 matches were played to a conclusion as rain wiped out the vast majority of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League programme.

The only completed match in the premier division was at Marfleet, where home club Fenner moved off the bottom of the table thanks to a winning draw against Acomb.

Batting first, Fenner made 102-7 in a reduced overs affair, with Andy Sykes (3-16) and Simon Brown (3-24) doing the damage for the visitors.

Acomb were looking likely winners at 40-0, but 6-31 from Steve Sargeant and 3-25 from Richie Barker restricted them to 81-9.

Hornsea were comprehensibly beaten by Londesborough Park at the Hollis Recreation Ground in division one.

The home side reached 168-8, thanks mainly to half-centuries from Ben Wallis (51) and Paul Clappison (52).

Charlie Rook took 5-43 for Londesborough, who then passed the Hornsea total for the loss of only five wickets.

Bridlington moved up the table thanks to a four-wicket win at home to high-flying Pickering.

The visitors posted 225-7 after Chris Nicholl (70) and Colin Frank (72) had set up a solid platform.

Bridlington’s Casey Rudd weighed in with 4-56 before watching Steve Cooper (88) and Ian Winterbottom (63) pave the way for a much-needed victory.

In division two, Osbaldwick had the worst of a draw at Sewerby.

The visitors closed on 147-9 in reply to Sewerby’s 245-6. Mike Artley (91no) and Russ Robinson were the main Sewerby contributors.

Whitkirk batsman Richard Simpson was unbeaten on 110 in his side’s 216-6 at Beverley.

Paul Johnson took 5-63 to restrict the home side to 174-9, despite a half-century from Graham Taylor.

Hovingham’s 235-9 was not enough to hold visitors Sheriff Hutton at bay in division three.

George Mosey (36) and Simon Gill (84) had helped Hovingham to a respectable score in the only completed game in the division.

However, Tom Harrison hit 73 and Joel Wilford made 69 as the visitors won by four wickets.

Pickering II were six-wicket winners over Rowntrees in division four.

Pickering’s Ryan Boyes put in a top performance, firstly taking 6-36 as the visitors were shot out for 72 and then hitting an unbeaten 32.

Chris Gartland took 3-30 for Rowntrees.

Hornsea II were put to the sword by two of their former players when Driffield bowled them out for a miserly 122.

Former Hornsea bowler Kevin Wilson took 4-38 and then Driffield overhauled the target for the loss of four wickets with John Woolley, who scored over 5,000 runs for Hornsea, making 41.

Ten-man Dringhouses II were second best at Easingwold, where they were skittled for 72 batting first.

Jason Sargeant (4-27) and Alan Robinson (3-23) were the main wicket-takers.

Robinson also starred with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 37 with support from Keith Hollinrake (27no) as they passed their target for the loss of only one wicket.

There were centurions on both sides as Civil Service beat Cawood by seven wickets in division five.

Stuart Baxter’s 122 helped Cawood to 223-8, but Nigel Ayre then saw his Civil Service side home with an unbeaten 131.
