YORK City will play neighbours Leeds United in a pre-season friendly at the KitKat Crescent on Tuesday, August 1 (7.45pm).
The game marks a partnership which will see United return to York during the 2006-07 season to play half their home' reserve games at KitKat Crescent.
The two clubs have agreed an initial one-year deal that will see the Whites play at least five of their 11 home reserve matches in York, the remainder being staged at Elland Road.
Last season, United played most of their reserve games at the John Charles Stadium, formerly the South Leeds Stadium, Hunslet. City will retain all gate receipts from the friendly game and also from the reserve fixtures staged in York.
City managing director Jason McGill, who brokered the deal, said: "We are looking forward to a strong partnership with Leeds United and we will be delighted to welcome them to KitKat Crescent next season. This arrangement will help York City financially as we will be receiving the full gate receipts for the pre-season friendly and also the Leeds United reserve games. We would like to thank Leeds for this gesture."
Alison Royston, United's head of football administration said: "Moving to York will foster relations between the two clubs and local communities. KitKat Crescent is clearly a stadium of Football League standard, which our players will appreciate."
Following a change in rules, that will prohibit clubs from outside the top flight taking part in the Premiership Reserve League North, Leeds United will now compete in the Pontin's Holidays League Division One Central.
