YORK City’s FA Trophy quarter-final clash at Barrow will now be played on Tuesday, March 2, after being called off for a second time.

The tie, postponed on Saturday because the Bluebirds' Holker Street ground was frozen, was rescheduled for tonight but fell foul of the frost again today, being called off at midday.

There were hopes it could be put back 24 hours to tomorrow night, but a forecast of even more severe weather in Cumbria tonight and tomorrow put paid to those plans.

The clubs instead agreed to put it back until next Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.

City will meet Salisbury - the lowest-ranked team still in the competition, after Barrow - should they progress. The other semi-final is between Stevenage, who beat the Minstermen in the Wembley final last year, and Kidderminster.

Next up for City are Eastbourne Borough in the Blue Square Premier at home on Saturday.

The Minstermen, already with a fixture backlog, will also now have to rearrange next Tuesday's league game against Grays Athletic, as the Trophy tie takes precedence.
