YORK City's FA Trophy second round tie at Newport County AFC has fallen victim of the Arctic weather.
The big freeze KO'd the game after officials at the Welsh club declared that the Spytty Park pitch would not defy winter's polar grip stretching into the weekend.
The tie has been provisionally arranged for next Wednesday, January 13, weather permitting and providing the FA sanction the switch.
There was supposed to be a pitch inspection at Newport tomorrow at 8am to prevent City embarking on their planned overnight stop an hour later if the conditions were too adverse.
But that decision was taken late this afternoon with no sign that the cold snap was going to ease.
