Updated: York City’s trip to Newport County in the FA Trophy second round on Saturday is already under threat from the weather.
The Welsh club’s Spytty Park pitch was under six inches of snow yesterday and an inspection has been scheduled for 8am tomorrow.
City are travelling tomorrow and staying overnight.
The squad are due to leave at 9am tomorrow and train in the Bristol area later in the day and the inspection is timed to prevent the team travelling unnecessarily.
Meanwhile, City boss Martin Foyle said he was “delighted” after the expected signings of Chris Carruthers and Luke Graham, following their loan deals, were confirmed.
The Minstermen have announced, as revealed by The Press on Monday, that Carruthers has signed an 18-month contract while Graham, who has successfully partnered David McGurk at centre-back, has signed until the end of the season after Mansfield Town agreed to give him a free transfer.
Foyle said: “I’m absolutely delighted to get two experienced professional players with great attitudes to join the club after their loan spells. The lads will add competition and more strength to the squad which will help us in the run-in to the end of the season.”
• Former York City defender Steve Davis has been named caretaker manager of Burnley for Saturday’s game against Stoke with Owen Coyle on the verge of taking over at Bolton. Davis signed for York in 2004 and played 15 games before retiring.
