THE York Senior Cricket League Joe Lumb XI returned to winning ways when they beat Pontefract by seven wickets at Sandal.
York put Pontefract in to bat and bowled out their hosts for 152 in 44 overs. Harry Booth took 5-40 in 16 overs and Ben England claimed 3-29 in ten overs.
Skipper Chris Bilton held three superb catches behind the stumps.
Ryan McKendry set the tone of York’s reply with 62, including three sixes and eight fours, out of 78 runs scored.
Bilton then hit 52 not out, including one six and ten fours, as he saw his side home in 26 overs.
York’s next game will be at home to unbeaten Bradford, the reigning champions, at Clifton Alliance on Sunday, July 19, at 1pm.
