HAMILTON Panthers were 4-1 winners over Dunnington in the clash of the form sides in the Leeper Hare York and District Football League premier division.

The away win extended Panthers’ unbeaten run to nine games and they were grateful to a penalty save by ’keeper Gregg Gulliver.

Mark Woodward gave Panthers the lead and he doubled the advantage within a minute of Gulliver’s spot-kick save.

Darren Branden and Mike McKenzie increased Panthers’ lead before half-time, while Matty Wain grabbed a consolation goal for the hosts.

League leaders Haxby United twice trailed at home to Poppleton before eventually winning 3-2.

Ashley Hill scored for the fifth game on the trot to cancel out Ben Janes’ first-minute goal for Poppleton.

John James hit Haxby’s second equaliser less than minute after Danny Temple had restored Pop’s lead.

’Keeper Aled Griffiths kept Pop in the game with a penalty save, but he could not prevent Hill’s Haxby winner.

Two goals from Michael Braithwaite and one from Louis Blackwell gave Kartiers a 3-1 win at York St John. Liam Bartle replied for the Students with a penalty.

Meanwhile, division one leaders Riccall stretched their unbeaten home run to 12 matches as they beat Stamford Bridge 3-1.

Andy Northern put Riccall in front with Kev Tate levelling for the visitors. Liam Olsen and John Knowles hit late goals to seal the win.

Second-placed Thorpe were 2-1 winners over Ouseburn, with goals by Adam Garner and Alan Clayton. Dan Clayton replied for Ouseburn.

York RI beat Norwich Union 4-3 with goals from Luke Richardson, Nick Hutchinson (2) and an own goal. Richard Robinson, Paul Cheatham and Richard Hunter replied.

Andrew Metcalfe junior hit a hat-trick in Easingwold’s 5-0 win over Rufforth.
