YORK City manager Martin Foyle made his first signing for the club by landing Gainsborough Trinity winger Adam Smith.

Smith, 23, who can play on the left or right, signed minutes before last night's loan deadline.

He made more than 50 appearances for Chesterfield and also spent time on loan with Lincoln City.

Smith is now expected to travel with the squad for Saturday's Blue Square Premier clash with Salisbury City.

With the loan deadline passing, clubs are unable to sign players until the transfer window reopens on January 1.
