FORMER York City captain Manny Panther has signed for Blue Square play-off final winners Exeter.

The 24-year-old Scotsman was released by the Minstermen last month after turning down the chance to sign a new contract at KitKat Crescent in January.

Exeter regained their place in the Football League with a 1-0 victory over Cambridge United at Wembley.

Meanwhile, Burton Albion Player of the Year John McGrath has decided to stay at the Pirelli Stadium despite overtures from City.

Minstermen chief Colin Walker had declared an interest in the 28-year-old midfielder, but he has signed a new contract with Nigel Clough's men.

Former Doncaster, Kidderminster and Tamworth player McGrath scored eight goals in 52 matches for Burton last season when he was a team-mate of City's close season signing Mark Greaves.

Walker said: "We were in the running for John McGrath but he has shown his loyalty in staying with Burton. It wasn't a financial decision because there were quite a few clubs prepared to throw more money at him."
