YORK City right-back Darren Craddock was labelled "brainless" by manager Billy McEwan following the 3-1 home defeat by Salisbury.
Craddock was replaced seven minutes into the second half after conceding a free-kick on the edge of the penalty box.
The defender had been cautioned for a reckless first-half challenge and McEwan decided to replace him to avoid a possible sending off.
McEwan said: "I shouldn't have to bring a good player off when we are drawing, but I did to avoid going down to ten men and we ended up losing the match. It was brainless, careless play, unprofessional and ill-disciplined."
