PICKERING Town are “enjoying the moment” says manager Paul Marshall as the Pikes hope to extend their 10-game winning run tomorrow at home to lowly Hall Road Rangers.

The third-placed Pikes saw off Rainworth Miners Welfare 4-1 midweek to match this Northern Counties East League premier campaign’s league record for consecutive games won set by AFC Mansfield and Pontefract Collieries.

Ahead of the meeting with relegation-threatened Rangers, Marshall has also hailed the Pikes’ footballing style, but said the team have learned how to win in more direct style.

He said: “It was an excellent performance against Rainworth. They were playing for a draw from five minutes in.

“Every game is different and everybody wants to stop us because we’re the best footballing team in the league.

“But sometimes direct football wins you games, and we know how mix it up since we got Billy Logan and Ryan Blott back.

“The players are all enjoying the moment and they’re in a good place with each other.”

Thomas Poole opened the scoring on seven minutes for Rainworth on Tuesday night before a swift Logan equaliser, heading home Frank Belt's cross after a flowing team move.

Blott put the Pikes in front on 71 minutes and Ged Dalton extended their lead shortly after. Logan put the game to bed with three minutes remaining.

Robert Chipps and George Bissett return to the squad tomorrow after being unavailable midweek.

A Pickering win would also be good news for 19th-placed Harrogate Railway Athletic, who sit five places above Rangers.

On Tuesday, the Rail lost to a first-minute goal in a 1-0 loss at Barton Town . Tomorrow, they host fifth-placed Maltby Main.

National League North high-fliers Harrogate Town tonight visit third-placed Brackley Town. Harrogate lost 2-1 at home to Spennymoor Town on Tuesday while Brackley beat Boston United 4-1.
