A BRACE from Jonah Beecher along with strikes from Adam Field and Jonathan Hadley helped to propel unbeaten Church Fenton to third place in the York Minster Engineering League premier division.

With the other four teams in the top all in York FA Saturday Senior Cup action, Church Fenton took full advantage thanks to a 4-1 victory over Copmanthorpe, with the visitors' sole response coming via an own goal.

Kirkbymoorside remained unbeaten in division one thanks to a 3-0 victory at Cliffe.

The Moorsiders controlled much of the first period but could not make a break through until the second half when Keelan Simpson found Bradley Magson on the edge of the box, the latter hitting a superb curling drive into the corner of the net.

Simpson again turned provider for the second goal, teeing up David Gardner who bent the ball into the stanchion of the goal-frame from 20 yards.

The triumph was rounded off when Jason Brown latched onto a through ball and rounded the keeper before squaring for Simpson to tap home.

Lee Downham's goal was not enough for bottom team Harrison Signs as they were sunk 2-1 at home by Thorpe United who, like Kirkby, are unbeaten in three league outings.
