MALTON and Heworth 'A' are both unbeaten after two matches in the new York Conservative Clubs Snooker League season.
Malton beat Fulford 'B' 5-2 despite being a man short, with Dominic Spiteri shining with a 25 unfinished break. Malton also saw Acomb 'B' 6-1.
Heworth 'A' had a hard-fought 4-3 win over Acomb 'A', with victories for Kevin Gall (28 break), Mark Winskill (33 break), Craig Pullen and Joe Kilmartin. Dan Potter, Phil Carlton (41 break) and Mick Borg replied.
Heworth 'A' then saw off a strong challenge from their 'B' team, hanging on to win 4-3. Richard Burdett (30 break), Steve Burdett, Gary Douglas and Joe Kilmartin won their frames, with replies from Andy Ogley (22 break), Andy Hurley and Andi Ireland (49 break).
Heworth 'B', though, pipped Acomb 'B' after victories from Ogley, Hurley, Pete Henderson and captain John Sherlock. Steve Rodgers, Nick Goodyear and Brian Henry responded.
Bootham 'A' beat Fulford B 4-3 thanks to Steve Cain, Rob Barron, Andy Wynn, and a walkover. Fulford 'B's victors were Lee Elderidge, F Sueess and Bob Smith, the last two on the black.
A very close contest - four frames finishing on the black - saw Bootham 'B' beat Fulford 'A' 4-3. Chris Thompson, Lionel Barnes, Ian Robinson and Paul Mahoney won for Bootham, Sam Parkinson, Tom Lewis and Dave Reed replying.
