YORK and Acomb have both booked their places at the Hunters T20 Blast finals’ day next month.

The pair will be joined at the North Marine Road showdown by hosts Scarborough and Yorkshire Academy, who will meet in one semi-final with York and Acomb contesting the other last-four tie, before the title decider is played.

All four teams booked their places after qualifying through three-club group stages.

At Shipton Road, York played host to Stamford Bridge and Sheriff Hutton Bridge and got off to a good start.

Oliver Leedham took four wickets to leave Stamford Bridge reeling on 36-5, before being bowled out for 101, with top-scorer Richard Robinson (30) one of only three batsmen to reach double figures, chiefly due to the efforts of Charlie Elliot (3-19).

York took less than ten overs to overhaul the target with Duncan Snell unbeaten on 52 from 35 balls, as Tom Friend also hit 43 off 20, including six sixes.

Losing fewer wickets then saw Stamford Bridge defeat Sheriff Hutton Bridge after both teams had finished on 170.

Stamford’s Mark Tennant (72 off 61) and Ryan McKendry (51 off 25) added an unbroken stand of 94 for the third wicket after Josh Cooper had contributed 34.

A half-century from Rob Pinder (55) and 43 not out from Russell Robinson then moved victory within Sheriff Hutton’s sights but, crucially, the latter was unable to get enough of the strike in the final over, which began with them needing seven for victory.

York went on to top the group after Snell (40), Adam McAuley (38) and Peter McDermott (34) helped them reach 168 against Sheriff Hutton, who were bowled out for 119, with Freddie Collins top scoring on 26.

In Group B, Scarborough won through against hosts Easingwold and Harrogate.

Making 183-4 against the hosts, Scarborough’s stand-out bastmen were Ben Elvidge (81 off 43 balls), Mark Cook (35) and Darren Mills (35), before Easi were bowled out for 138 in the final over.

Another home defeat against Harrogate, led to a final-game decider.

Harrogate were subsequently shot out for 62, with Kristian Wilkinson (3-14) and Linden Gray (2-8) doing most of the damage.

The Seasiders still lost five wickets during their victory chase and were thankful for Cook’s 20 at the top of the order.

Hosts Acomb progressed in a group that pitted them with Driffield Town and Hull.

Richard Love (44) and skipper Joe Dale (39) were the principle contributors to a total of 164-8 in a 34-run win over Driffield and, despite Ben Kohler-Cadmore (46) and Owen Goldsworthy (23) replying, the visitors finished on 130 all out.

Acomb went on to overcome Hull by 19 runs.

Matthew Dale topscored with 38 and Joe Dale added 28 in a total of 163-9, despite four wickets from Tom Appleyard.

The latter went on to contribute 29 with the bat and Tom Wilkinson made 40, but Mark Bell (3-17) held the Humbersiders in check.

At Woodhouse Grange’s Sandhill Lane, Yorkshire Academy progressed at the expense of the hosts and Clifton Alliance.

John Gilham (30) and Greg Drewery (35 no off 28 balls) were responsible for more than half Clifton’s total of 104-7 against Grange, who had chased down that target by the16th over. with Michael Hattee and Nathan Saltmer both finishing 36 not out.

Against the Academy, Clifton’s Scott Hopkinson scored 44, but they only mustered 90-8.

Benjamin Birkhead hit 43 off 25 balls as victory was wrapped up in just 8.2 overs.

The Academy then breezed past Grange to book their finals’ day place.

Edward Barnes (3-15) and Jordan Thompson (3-8) bowled out the home team for 96 with skipper Andrew Bilton (30) offering most resistance.

Birkhead (44 off 26) shared an opening stand of 79 with Harry Brook (40 off 25), as victory was sealed in 10.5 overs.
