EIGHT teams took part in the Gordon Little Trophy at York and District Indoor Bowls Club on Easter Sunday.

Gordon Fennell, Norman Ellis and Joan Knight played John Munday, Eva Snarr, and Pat Potter in the semifinal. Fennell’s team won six out of seven ends to lead 10-2 on the way to a 10-6 victory.

The other semifinal featured David White and Dee and Colin Robinson against Pauline Cooper, Brenda Love and Dave Berwick.

White’s team led 6-0 before Cooper’s side hit back with two twos. The gap widened on the next end as White picked up a three on the way to a 9-5 win.

White’s team opened with two threes in the final but, three ends later, Fennell’s team were level. White edged in front with singles on the next two ends. Fennell’s team went down 8-7 giving the title to White and the Robinsons.

Maureen Walker, Lynda Parker and Sheila Turpin trailed 15-12 to Pauline Cooper, Lynn Tattersall and Brenda Love with two ends to play in the Ladies Knockout Triples Final. They drew level and took the game into an extra where Walker’s team edged it.

Charlie Arnett’s team won the Vets Fours League Play-Off Final, coming from 10-3 down to win seven of the last ten ends against Ron Kirkpatrick’s side.

Mal Bulmer, Dennis Brown, and Pete Grosvenor were 9-2 up in the Eric Hopwood Triples Final before Ray Calpin, Cliff Hunter and Malcolm Thompson pulled back, winning four of the next six ends.

Bulmer’s side won the next two to take a 14-8 lead with two to play and the game finished 14-11.

On Sunday, York hosts the new Bonanza Bowls competition at 10am. Next Monday and Tuesday, the Civil Service Singles and Triples national finals will be played at Thanet Road.
