ONLY a handful of games survived the downpours as the York Minster Engineering League programme was once again savaged by the weather.

However, the rain did not deter Dringhouses, who scored a shock 3-0 win at Old Malton St Mary's that sent ripples through the premier division title race.

Jordan Outerbridge put the visitors ahead before the interval, and the home side had no response as Sam Drake bagged two excellent goals in the second period to seal the win.

Tadcaster Magnets continued their recent run of good form as they gained three points from a scrappy game against Copmanthorpe.

The visitors missed a penalty midway through the game and were made to pay the price as Magnets snatched a late winner.

In division one, Malton & Norton gained a comfortable 7-2 win over York St John University.

Scott Preston and Kingsley Daffern bagged first-half doubles as the visitors went in 4-2 up, with Daffern completing his hat-trick in the second period.

Matty Reeves and Wayne Hazel completed Malton & Norton's tally.

In division two, Hamilton Panthers and and Fulford United played out a 2-2 draw.

In the only game of the day in the reserve divisions, Pocklington Town moved up to fourth in reserve 'B' following a 5-1 win at Bishopthorpe United.

In the Reserve Cup, Huntington Rovers and Hemingbrough United played out a thriller, which was decided on penalties following a 3-3 draw.

Following a goalless first half, in which there were chances at both ends, Huntington took the lead early in the second period with a Pete Laidlaw penalty.

Hemingbrough equalised immediately through Ricki Hutton and forged ahead thanks to a Robert Scarr strike before Luke Whittaker headed home to restore parity.

Again Hemingbrough pushed on and regained the lead through Hutton, only for Liam Flanagan to fire home late in the game.

The match went to spot kicks and, in a see-saw shootout, Neil Cadywold was in fine form in the Rovers goal as Huntington gained a 4-3 success and a place in the next round.

Thorpe United defeated holders Dringhouses 6-4 to also advance.
